It looks as though Activision has decided to go ahead and push the envelope with the sudden surge of musical games hitting the market. According to The Onion, they have released (and are reporting poor sales) for the Xbox360 title, Sousaphone Hero.

“In the wake of Guitar Hero’s success, we thought the public was more than ready for additional popular American musical genres in a simulated-performance format, but people don’t seem to be responding to marches as well as we had hoped,” said Activision spokeswoman Melissa Hendleman

The retail price appears to be a steep $345! But hey, you get an awesome 100 pound sousaphone to rock out on! The game also features on-screen crowd cheers and a career mode that pinnacles in a performance at the halftime show of the Harvard vs Yale football game.

Of course, in true “The Onion” fashion, this game doesn’t really exist… But if it did, I would be on my way to the store to get it ASAP. Sousaphone on!

I wanted to showcase this cool video that Derek put together months ago for the GamerIdentity.com campaign. Pretty cool!

Something’s Cookin’

What if there was a way for me to tell you the games that you would like, all based on the fact that you like this one game. And tell me, what would this one game be, that you happen to be looking at, that I would give you this list…

…something’s cookin’

I would not want to play Monopoly with this guy… Can you imagine what would happen if you tossed some hotels up on Boardwalk and he landed on it?

Rosin bag… OR IS IT?

Fishing Trip to Breitenbush River

Posted on May 13th, 2007 in living

I went on my first fishing trip in about 3 years (I’m ashamed to say) yesterday with a few friends.  We headed over to the Breitenbush River, just to the NE of Detroit Lake here in Oregon.  The river bank was awesome, with pretty fast paced water shooting over rock formations.  However, we didn’t see a trout all day…

I’ve posted my photos from this trip on flickr, view them here!

World’s Tallest Coat Rack

Posted on April 11th, 2007 in general, living

Here in Eugene, it seems to rain a lot. And by a lot, I mean every other day (lately). So, I decided to wear my rain coat to work. When I got inside I was greeted by a new variety of coat rack, complete with a sign that read “Long Coats Only”. Then I hopped over to my email. To the entire company, from Thomas Buscaglia — it read…

This is just a friendly reminder of our coat rack policy. I hate to have to do this, but there seem to be a few people among us who seem to be forgetting that these rules are in place for a reason. I won’t name any names, but you know who you are. Let’s try to remember: short coats go on short racks, long coats go on long racks. That’s all. If we all do our part we can keep this a pleasant work environment for everyone, tall and short.

Thank you.

Here is a picture of Ben Garney (one of the taller individuals here in the office at 6′7″) after he hung up his coat on the “World’s Tallest Coat Rack”.

Coat Rack

Turns out that my coat is touching the floor because I am not privileged enough to use the “Long Coats Only” coat rack

Slide.com, provider of cool widgets for most popular social networking sites and beyond, is getting wrapped in the March Madness with collegiate themes for their services. I slammed together a quick little slideshow of yesterdays’ Michigan State victory over Marquette to exemplify what they look like!

Very awesome service for putting together flash widgets quickly!
